Why isn't my iPod touch audio working no matter what headphones I use?

Everytime I want to listen to music on my iPod touch, the audio doesn't work and I'm sure it's not the headphones bec/ the headphones I wuz using before had the same problem and now I hav new ones and I cnt hear anything just like those other ones.Does anyone what's going on with my iPod and if anyone can help me fix it or know what I should do if there's nothin I can do about it.
