Looking for a transforming type toy from the 80s probably.?

Im looking for a series of toys that I loved as a child. There was a lion and cheetah. (( the good guys)) There was a bear and a crocodile (( the bad guys)) They "transform" into a meteor (( it looked like an egg)) I thought they were transformers but a expert told me that they weren't. If someone happens to know the name of these toys I would be grateful. It would make my search for them so much easier.
