Are emeralds a good investment?

I have a few, but i want more. Would I be safe putting my hard earned jam money into emeralds? I really hate the look of diamonds, since they are colorless to me. I have to have emeralds. they are as green as my eyes. they make me think of spring meadows, and in the gr. hmmmm.........
